Real Estate: A 'secret' tax shelter

I stumbled across this very interesting article that embodies what I see and hear almost every other day. Coming from a financial background, I am aware of the cons of government sanctioned financial products such as TFSAs, RRSPs, tax shelters and flow-through shares.

However, the majority of people are often seeking these same products without exploring beyond. What is commonly overlooked by the majority of the population are the advantages of real estate and while there are always risks, savvy investors know how to mitigate those risks to become rich. Rich investors know the power of maximizing their returns via tax reduction, appreciation, leverage, depreciation, equity and the almighty positive cash flow!

They say that it takes money to make money. I totally agree with that statement because although 'they' never tell you how much money is required, money is always required at some point. It may be only hundreds of dollars for mentors and books or thousands for down payments, deposits and closing costs or for real estate education.

But I digress from the subject matter of this very informative article.

The aforementioned is briefly touched upon, the main thesis is - Real Estate is a secret tax shelter where your money (equity and appreciation) grows without being taxed.
